Swatch FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 2008 - Henkel Grand Chelem - Paris - Emanuel & Ricardo OUT !!!

Les chinois WU-XU ont une fois de plus montré leurs ambitions Olympiques et leur progression en battant ce matin Emanuel-Ricardo 2-1 (13-21 23-21 15-13 en 1h).

L'équipe Chinoise a progressé notamment en défense et mentalement où ils ont prouvé qu'ils arrivent à tenir sur un match serré face à une grosse équipe, en l'occurrence les Champions Olympiques.

Côté brésilien, Ricardo a été un ton en-dessous, peut-être du fait d'une blessure à la cheville, alors qu'Emanuel a une fois de plus été super en défense.

Pour les autres matchs, à noter l'élimination des équipes américaines Stein Metzger-Mark Williams éliminés par les Georgiens Geor-Gia et Jake Gibb-Sean Rosenthal par Harley-Pedro.

Par contre les 2 autres équipes américaines se sont qualifiées pour les quarts de finale, difficilement pour Casey Jennings-Matt Fuerbringer contre les lettons Samoilovs-Pavlins qui ont fait encore un excellent match et qualification très facile pour Todd Rogers-Phil Dalhausser contre les allemands Reckermann-Urbatzka.

The Chinese team progressed in particular in defense and mentally where they proved that they manage to hold on a match tightened against a top team, here the Olympic champions.

Brazilian side, Ricardo was a tone below, perhaps it's because an injury at his ankle, then Emanuel once more was great in defense.

For the other matches, to note the elimination of the American teams Stein Metzger-Mark Willams eliminated by Georgiens Geor-Gia and Jake Gibb-Sean Rosenthal by Harley-Pedro.

The 2 other American teams qualified themselves for the quarterfinals, with difficulty for Casey Jennings-Matt Fuerbringer against the Samoilovs-Pavlins Latvians who still made an excellent match and very easy qualification for Todd Rogers-Phil Dalhausser against German Reckermann-Urbatzka.

Petite mise en train pour les 2 équipes américaines présentes dans le tournoi qualificatif aujourd'hui à Zagreb.

Malgré un léger froid qui régnait en Croatie et un sable un peu lourd, Stein Metzger-Mark Williams et Matt Furbringer-Casey Jennings, ont remporté leur 2 matchs assez facilement et se qualifient une fois de plus pour le Main draw.

Dans ces qualifications, à noter les 2 matchs aussi gagnés par Gregory Gagliano et Fabien Dugrip qui après un match difficile contre les canadiens ont réussi à éviter le piège tchèque en finissant sur un 2-1 face à Kubala-Pavlas. Nous les reverrons donc demain aux côtés de Yannick Salvetti et Guilhem Deulofeu dans le Main Draw avec un premier match qui les mettra tout de suite au pied du mur contre les russes Barsouk-Kolodinsky (2ème au Championnat du Monde 2008).

In spite of a light cold which reigned in Croatia and a a little heavy sand, Stein Metzger-Mark Williams and Matt Furbringer-Casey Jennings, to them 2 matches won rather easily and are qualified once more for the Main Draw.

In these qualifications, to note the 2 matches won by Gregory Gagliano and Fabien Dugrip which after a difficult match against Canadian succeeded in avoiding the Czech trap by finishing on one 2-1 vs Kubala-Pavlas.

We will saw them tomorrow at the sides of Yannick Salvetti and Guilhem Deulofeu in the Main Draw with a first match which will immediately put them on competition against Russian Barsouk-Kolodinsky (2nd with the Championship of the World 2008).

Comme on s'y attendait un peu, les N°1 américains et Champions du Monde sont bien restés les maîtres du jeu à Miami lors du 1er tournoi de la saison 2008.

Kerri Walsh-Misty May Treanor ont fait leur retour à plein régime et ont semblé n'avoir rien perdu de leur maîtrise de jeu. Il a été difficile d'imaginer que Kerri Walsh avait été opérée de l'épaule 2 mois plutôt tellement son jeu a été efficace.

En Finale Kerri et Misty ont cependant eu fort à faire face aux N°2 Elaine Young et Nicole Branagh. En effet, Elaine Young a réalisé un excellent match au Block et a poussé Kerri Walsh a trouvé des axes plus difficiles et Misty MAY à durcir les services. Les Championnes Olympiques gagnent au finish le match 2-1 (21-15 17-21 15-13).

Dans le tournoi Hommes, l'équipe surprise du tournoi, Sean Scott et Nick Lucena, ont continué sur leur lancée de samedi avec encore un excellent match de demi finale. Par contre en Finale, face à Phil Dalhausser et Todd Rogers, ils n'ont pas fait illusion longtemps et perdent sur un score décevant 2-0 (21-14 21-13).

Il faut dire qu'après une demi finale très serrée, face à Matt Fuerbringer-Casey Jenings, Phil et Todd ont fait un sans faute en Finale sur tous les compartiments du jeu (surtout au Block et à l'attaque) face à leurs anciens partenaires respectifs Nick et Sean.

AVP Cuervo Gold Crown Dallas Open - 18 au 20 Avril 2008

 As we expected it a little, AVP N°1 and World Champions remained the Masters of the play in Miami for the 1st tournament of the season 2008. Kerri Walsh-Misty May Treanor made their return to full mode and seemed not to have lost anything. It was difficult to imagine that Kerri Walsh had been operated shoulder 2 months ago.

Finally Kerri and Misty however had extremely to face N°2 Elaine Young and Nicole Branagh. Indeed, Elaine Young carried out an excellent game with the Block and pushed Kerri Walsh found axes more difficult and Misty MAY to harden the services.

The Olympic Champions won finally 2-1 (21-15 17-21 15-13).

In the Men tournament, the surprised team of the tournament, Sean Scott and Nick Lucena, continued on their impetus of Saturday with still an excellent match of semifinal.

But in the Final, against Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers, they did not make illusion a long time and lose on a disappointing score 2-0 (21-14 21-13). It should be said that after a very tight semifinal, against Matt Fuerbringer-Casey Jenings, Phil and Todd did one game without fault in the Finals on all the compartments of the play (especially Block and Spike) against to their former respective partners Nick and Sean.

AVP beach VolleyBall Hot Winter Nights - Final stop in Las Vegas - 23 Feb 2008

On connaît les participants à l'étape Finale de l'AVP Hot Winter Nights Tour qui se déroulera le 23 février 2008 au Orleans Arena (à l'Orleans Casino) de las Vegas.

La poule femmes sera composée d'Elaine Youngs, Nicole Branagh, Jenny Johnson Jordan et April Ross et du côté des hommes se sont Casey Jennings, Todd Rogers, Mike Lambert et Sean Rosenthal qui joueront pour le titre.

Il faut souligner que ce circuit de Beach Volleyball indoor, avec ses 19 étapes en 1 mois 1/2, 13 états parcourus et la participation des top joueurs et joueuses de l'AVP, a permis de faire découvrir l'ambiance et les matchs de Beach Volleyball à des centaines de personnes, habitués au Volleball en 6vs6, complètement conquis lors de ces AVP Hot Winter Nights.

D'ailleurs c'était l'un des objectifs que c'était donné Leonard Armato (CEO de l'AVP) en créant ce circuit qui "a amené l'AVP beach lifestyle sur les terres des fans du volley en salle et où l'AVP n'était encore jamais passé" dixit le grand patron de l'AVP. Ces AVP Hot Winter Nights ont permis aussi à certains joueurs de garder la forme en hiver.

Mais où donc s'arrêtera les ambitions de l'AVP puisque cette année en plus de ce circuit ils se sont lancés à la conquête du circuit Australien de Beach Volleyball qui a comme nom maintenant le "Crocs Tour Australia" (voir article plus bas sur cette page). Peut-on rêver d'un Crocs Tour France ???

We knows the participants at the Finale stop of the AVP Hot Winter Nights Tour which will be held on February 23, 2008 in Orleans Arena (in Orleans Casino) in Las Vegas.

The women pool will be composed by Elaine Youngs, Nicole Branagh, Jenny Johnson Jordan and April Ross and on the men side are Casey Jennings, Todd Rogers, Mike Lambert and Sean Rosenthal which will play for the title.

The Beach Volleyball indoor Tour, with its 19 stops in 1 month 1/2, 13 visited states and the participation of the Top AVP players, made it possible to make discover the environment of Beach Volleyball to hundreds of people, accustomed to Volleball in 6vs6, completely conquered at the time of these AVP Hot Winter Nights.

Moreover it was one of the goals which it was given Leonard Armato (CEO of the AVP) by creating this tour which "was a unique opportunity to bring the AVP beach lifestyle atmosphere to volleyball fans located in areas we haven't previously visited" says thh big AVP Boss. These AVP Hot Winter Nights also made it possible to certain players to keep in shape during winter.

But where thus will stop the ambitions of the AVP since this year in more of this tour they launched out to the conquest of the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour which the name is "Crocs Tour Australia" (see lower article on this page). Can we dream about Crocs France Tour???
