1st AVP tournament in 2007 and 1st victory for Kerri and Jake. The people of Albany are not really in the habit of attending a tournament of Beach volleyball. Not only because in Albany there is not a beach, not only because the sport King is basketball, not only because here nobody is really used to the spirit Beach but especially because in this period of the year it's strange to see players in swimsuits while outside the temperature oscillates between -10 ° and -20 ° and while the snow wraps the lasting city 3-4 months/year. And they were lucky because all evening was intense in Beach Volley actions. The 8 players made the show ball after ball without letting at no time the big crownd - 2700 spectators - fall asleep. The heat has little by little invades the Times Union Arena obliging most of the spectators to undress... it needs to say that they were equipped of moonboots, of snow jackets and big pullovers.
Kerri Walsh wins at the woman's by losing only 1 match on 3 matches on the pool and by winning the Finale easily with Rachel WACHOLDER against YOUNGS-JOHNSON JORDAN by 21-9. At the men's tournament, Jake GIBB partner to Todd Rogers in Finale beat JENNINGS-SCOTT 21-16. To note that Todd took out the good match at the right time because he lost all his poll matches.
Nota bene: the live tornament experiment on the AVP site was a beautiful success. We hope that it will not be only an experiment.
Next AVP tournament : AVP Cuervo Gold Crown Dallas Open from 19 till 22 April 2007
