21-18 et 21-12 et voilà les Australiennes Nathalie Cook et Tamsin Barnett projetées à la 1ere place de leur poule et en très bonne place pour se qualifier.
Pourtant lors du premier set, Cristine Santana "Saka" et Andrezza Chagas avaient mis la pression sur les australiennes avec surtout un jeu en défense efficace. Mais les Australiennes s'applique de balle en balle et vers le milieu du set passe en tête pour laisser les georgiennes à 3 points d'écart jusqu'à la fin du 1er set.
Au début du 2eme set on a vu un très bon début de Cristine et Andrezza qui prennent le jeu à leur compte avec une très bonne anticipation d'Andrezza en défense et une Cristine qui sans faire de block gagnant oblige les Australiennes à prendre des risques à l'attaque et voilà la georgie menant de 3 points avec un 10-7 mérité.
Mais voilà que Tamsin enchaîne une série de très bons services avec un Ace en prime qui amène les Australiennes à hauteur des georgiennes. Après il n'y a pas vraiment eu de match puisque "Nat" et "Tam" passe la vitesse supérieur et laisse sur place les georgiennes surtout grâce à un service très efficace et une Nat Cook déchaînée.
Dans le reste du tournoi feminin, un des matchs les plus intéressant de la journée a été celui qui a opposé les américaines Branagh-Youngs aux allemandes Pohl-Rau. Dans ce match il a fallu attendre le 34eme changement de service à 17-17 pour voir les américaines prendre l'ascendant avec un excellent service de Nicole Branagh et beaucoup de fautes à l'attaque des 2 allemandes. Nicole et Elaine gagnent finalement 21-17. Dans le 2eme set presque le même scenario avec Stephanie Pohl et Okka Rau qui enchaînent les super balles et les super erreurs pour finalement décroché au 30eme side out et laisser les américaines Elaine Youngs et Nicole Branagh remporter leur 2eme match.
L'autre match serré a été celui qu'on remporté Ana Paula-Larissa face aux Russes Uryadova-Shiryeva qui font une fois de plus un très bon match.
En effet les Russes ont pris le match à leur compte dès le 1er set et après une égalité jusqu'à 10-10 , Natalia et Alexandra ont enchainé une série d'attaques services gagnants qui les a libérés avec pour résultat un premier set gagné 21-19.
Le 2eme set changement total de physionomie puisque les Brésiliennes un peu plus décontractées mènent les débats assez facilement et remportent le set sans trop de difficulté 21-12.
Rester donc à jouer le tie break pour séparer Brésil et Russie et là on a pas été déçu. Des 2 côtés la tension s'intensifie avec un jeu égale ponctué de très beaux points et d'erreurs incroyables. Voilà Brésiliennes et Russes qui jouent du coude jusqu'à 13-13 et il a fallu une erreur de service de Natalia Uryadova et un Kong Block d'Ana paula pour donner la victoire au Brésil.
Deuxième victoire difficile pour Ana paula et Larissa mais n'oublions que jusqu'à il y a 1 semaine les 2 joueuses n'avaient jamais joué ensemble. C'est donc une paire sur qui il faudra compter d'autant que les réglages commencent à donner quelques résultats. Pour la petite histoire Larissa ne crie plus sur sa partenaire... c'est vrai que là elle joue avec une des joueuses les plus titrées du Beach volley Mondial.
