Les deux meilleurs équipes du moment se retrouveront en finale demain à 13h30 (heure d'Adélaide). Le casting du dernier épisode de la 1ère étape du Swatch World Tour 2008 est connu maintenant après des demi finales de très haut niveau. Ce sont les brésiliens Harley-Pedro et les chinois Wu-Xu qui joueront les premiers rôles et apporteront tout le suspens possible aux spectateurs.

Demi Finales de haut niveau déjà du fait que les quatres équipes en présence font partie des habituées du carré final et même si les 2 équipes américaines ne sont classées que 13ème (Todd Rogers-Phil Dalhausser) et 26ème (Jake Gibb-Sean Rosenthal) mondiales, leur véritable valeur les classe plutôt dans le Top 10 d'autant que leur classement mondial n'est basé que sur 6 tournois là où la plupart des équipes ont participé à 13 tournois en moyenne.

Demi finales de haut niveau encore, par la qualité du jeu notamment avec un démonstration de style au contre où Pedro, Xu "Tiny" et Phil ont montré l'étendue de leur art du Block.

Les chinois Wu-Xu ont finalement réussi à battre l'équipe qui semblait la plus en forme, vu les matchs fournies ces 2 derniers jours, Jake Gibb-Sean Rosenthal 2-0 (21-19 21-15). Du même coup ils inscrivent leur nom dans les records des notes statistiques de la FIVB car ils deviennent la 1ère équipe chinoise masculine à disputer une Finale depuis que le circuit mondial existe, c'est à dire depuis 1986.

Dans l'autre duel, Harley en défense et Pedro au Block ont monté leur jeu d'un ton pour battre les Champions du Monde Todd Rogers-Phil Dalhausser. Les brésiliens très concentrés, même si on assiste à des délires d'Harley lorsqu'il marque des points, ont réussi à maîtriser le géant américain et gagnent le match 2-1 (21-19 16-21 15-13). il semblerait tout de même que Todd et Phil manque de compétitions car seul Todd a eu l'occasion de faire un tournoi en Février (AVP HWN à Las Vegas) depuis leur dernier match en compétition, le 30 septembre 2007 au brésil.

It's Brazilian Harley-Pedro and the chinese Wu-Xu which will play the first parts and will bring all the possible suspense to the spectators.

High level semi Finales already owing to the fact that the four teams involved form part of accustomed final square and even if the 2 American teams are classified only 13th (Todd Rogers-Phil Dalhausser) and 26th (Jake Gibb-Sean Rosenthal)in the world ranking, their true value the class rather in Top 10,  their 2007 world classification is based only on 6 tournaments where the majority of the teams took part in 13 tournaments on average.

High level finales still, by the quality of the play in particular with a block style demonstration where Pedro, Xu "Tiny" and Phil showed the extent of their art of the Block.

The Chinese Wu-Xu finally succeeded in beating the team which seemed more in form, considering the matches provided these the last 2 days, Jake Gibb-Sean Rosenthal 2-0 (21-19 21-15). At the same time they register their name in the stats world notes of the FIVB because they become the 1st men Chinese team to dispute a Final since the internationnal beach volleyball circuit exists, i.e. since 1986.

In the other game, Harley in defense and Pedro in Block assembled their play to beat the World Champions Todd Rogers-Phil Dalhausser. The Brazilian ones very concentrated, even if delirious Harley attitude when it marks points, succeeded in controlling the American giant and won the match 2-1 (21-19 16-21 15-13).

It would seem all the same that Todd and Phil miss competitions because only Todd had the occasion to make a tournament in February (AVP HWN in Las Vegas) since their last match in competition, on September 30, 2007 in Brazil.

Dans le Main draw féminin, cette première journée a été principalement marqué par la domination des équipes brésiliennes, chinoises et allemandes. En effet à la fin du 2ème tour, il restait 3 équipes brésiliennes, 2 équipes chinoises et 2 équipes allemandes.
c'est en particulier Juliana-Larissa, Shelda-Ana Paula et Ludwig-Goller qui ont été les équipes les plus en vue. Ces 3 équipes ont réussi de très bon match avec notamment Laura Ludwig-Sara Goller qui ont battu Boss-Ross au 2ème tour par 2-1 (18-21 21-18 15-12) ce qui constitue un très bon résultat pour les jeunes allemandes et Ana Paula-Shelda qui ont très largement battu Nat Cook-Tasmin Barnett, devant leur public, 2-0 (21-14 21-15).
Déception du côté canadien avec finalement une 25ème place pour les 2 équipes en course Marie André Lessard-Sarah Maxwell et Dana Cooke-Annie Martin.
In the women Main Draw, this first day was mainly marked by the domination of the Brazilian, Chinese and German teams. At the end of the 2nd round, there remained 3 Brazilian teams, 2 Chinese teams and 2 German teams.
It's in particular Juliana-Larissa, Shelda-Ana Paula and Ludwig-Goller who were the teams more in sight. Une première journée du Main Draw au cours de laquelle les équipes mondiales se sont retrouvées et ont pu évalué où en était le niveau de préparation et de jeu de chaque équipe.
Déjà ponctuée de matchs intenses hier lors des qualifications, l'étape australienne de Beach Volley a une fois de plus tenu ses promesses avec des matchs serrés et des résultats qui donnent le ton.
En effet dans le tournoi masculin on a pu voir tout d'abord une équipe de France, Kevin et Andy CES, accrocheuse et très motivée qui a fait un excellent match face à la paire tête de série N°2 Phil Dalhausser-Todd Rogers. Les français sont d'ailleurs passés de très peu à côté de l'exploit ne perdant que 2-1 (21-18 14-21 15-13) en 1h03. Ils réussiront d'ailleurs, 3h20 après dans le tableau bas, l'exploit en battant la légende helvète Paul Laciga associé à Jan Schnyder 2-0 (21-16 21-17) en 32 minutes. Ils ont bien mérité une bonne nuit de repos avant d'affronter demain à 8h50 (heure d'Adélaïde) - Voir les stats d'avant match ICI (grâce à bvbinfo) - les têtes de série N°...1 les russes Barsouk-Kolodinsky
qui à la surprise générale ont été battus par les néerlandais Boersma-Ronnes.
La paire néerlandaise avaient déjà fait un très bon match de 1er tour puisqu'ils avaient dominé l'équipe de Géorgie en gagnant 2-0 (21-13 21-19) prenant ainsi une option pour prétendre à une place qualificative pour les JO de Pékin.
Phil et Todd ont eu un second match encore plus difficile face à leurs compatriotes Jake Gibb et Sean Rosenthal qui s'est finalement soldé par une défaite 0-2 (22-24 18-21). Ils rencontreront dans le tableau des perdants Geor-Gia (GEO).
Autre mauvaise surprise, les autrichiens n'ont plus d'équipes dans le tableau principal. Les Champions d'Europe Peter Gartmayer et Clemens Doppler n'ont pas réussi à passer l'obstacle espagnol, Herrera-Mesa, et australien, Slack-Schacht.
Côté allemand, tout va bien pour Christoph Dieckmann-Julius Brink qui font un parcours presque sans faute en sortant au 1er tour les suédois Berg-Brinkborg et au 2ème tour les brésiliens Marcio-Fabio qu'ils battent avec un score étonnant 2-0 (21-18 21-12). Cette deuxième victoire est une référence pour Christoph et Julius qui se sont bien préparés ces 3 derniers mois en jouant notamment en matchs amicaux contre... Marcio-Fabio. A croire qu'ils en ont profité pour percer leurs points faibles.
A noter aussi le parcours sans faute des chinois Wu-Xu avec leurs 2 victoires face à la 2ème équipe russe et les italiens Lione-Varnier qui ont fait sensation lors du 1er tour en battant Franco-Cunha 2-0 (21-18 24-22). Il faut dire que Wu-Xu ont pour objectif cette saison de gagner l'Or Olympique chez eux et pour cela ils se sont préparés avec l'un des meilleurs coach du monde et légende du Beach Volleyball, Dane Selznick, qui les suit depuis ces 4 dernières années.
Pour finir il faut parler aussi de l'excellent parcours de Matt Fuerbringer-Casey Jennings qui ont eu à disputer un match de country quota, 2 matchs de qualification et 2 matchs dans le tableau principal en 2 jours, le tout sans aucune défaite. Il faut dire que ce n'est pas non plus une équipe qui vient de nulle part puisque la saison dernière en 5 tournois AVP (ils se sont associés en fin de saison) ils ont réussi à gagner San Francisco, à terminer 2ème à Boston et 3ème à Cincinatti. En plus ils se connaissent bien puisqu'ils ont déjà joué ensemble plus de 75 matchs.
A first Main Draw day during which the world teams found themselves and could evaluated where was the level of preparation and play of each team. Already punctuated of intense matches, yesterday on qualifications, the Australian Beach Volley stop, once more, held its promises with tight matches and results which give the tone.
In effect in the men tournament we could see first a very motivated french team, Kevin and Andy CES, which made an excellent match againts the pair head of series N°2 Phil Dalhausser-Todd Rogers. French passed besides the performance from very little, losing only 2-1 (21-18 14-21 15-13) in 1h03. They will succeed besides, 3h20 afterwards in the contenders, the exploit by beating the swiss beach volleyball legend Paul Laciga associated with Jan Schnyder 2-0 (21-16 21-17) in 32 minutes. They deserved a good night of rest well before facing tomorrow at 8h50 (Adelaide time) - See the stats of before match HERE (thanks to bvbinfo) - heads of series N°... 1 Russians Barsouk-Kolodinsky who with the general surprise was beaten by Dutch Boersma-Ronnes.
The Dutch pair had already made a very good match of 1st round since they had dominated the team of Georgia by winning 2-0 (21-13 21-19) thus taking an option to claim a qualificative place for the Olympics.
Phil and Todd had a second match even more difficult against their compatriots Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal who finally showed a defeat 0-2 (22-24 18-21). They will meet in the contenders Geor-Gia (GEO).
Another bad surprise, the Austrians do not have any more teams in the main draw. The European Champions Peter Gartmayer and Clemens Doppler did not succeed in passing the Spanish, Herrera-Mesa, and Australian, Slack-Schacht.
German side, all goes well for Christoph Dieckmann-Julius Brink which almost makes a course without fault while leaving to the 1st round Swedish Berg-Brinkborg and the 2nd round Brazilian Marcio-Fabio that they beat with an amazing score 2-0 (21-18 21-12). This second victory is a reference for Christoph and Julius which prepared well these the last 3 months while playing in particular in friendly matches against... Marcio-Fabio.
Note also the good matchs without fault of Chinese Wu-Xu with their 2 victories against the 2nd Russian team and Italian Lione-Varnier who created sensation at the time of the 1st turn by beating Franco-Cunha 2-0 (21-18 24-22). It should be said that Wu-Xu aim this season to gain Olympic Gold on their premises and for this reason they prepared with one of best coach of the world and Beach Volleyball legend , Dane Selznick, which has followed them for these 4 last years.
To conclude it is necessary to also speak about the excellent day of Matt Fuerbringer-Casey Jennings which had to play a match of country quota, 2 qualification matches and 2 matches in main draw in 2 days, the whole without any defeat. It should be said that's not either a team which comes from nowhere since last season in 5 tournaments AVP (they joined at the end of the season) they succeeded in gaining San Francisco, to finish 2nd in Boston and 3rd in Cincinatti. In more they know each other well since they already played together more than 75 matches.
