Swatch FIVB World Tour 2008 - Kia Open - Guaruja - 6eme victoire pour Harley & Pedro -6th victory for Harley & Pedro - 6.a vitória para Harley & Pedro

Harley et Pedro viennent de remporter leur 6eme tournoi de la saison ce qui leur assure quasiment de remporter le Swatch FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 2008.

Il faut dire qu'ils ont abordé ce tournoi avec beaucoup de sérieux et plus de self control qui leur fait perdre pied parfois dans des matchs à enjeux.

En finale ils ont battu difficilement Christoph-Dieckmann et Julius Brink 2-1 (24-26 21-19 15-13) avec un match presque parfais de Pedro à l'attaque et de Harley en défense.

Les allemands aussi ont fait un excellent tournoi mais ont frôlé plusieurs fois avec la défaite dans les tours précédents et ont fait beaucoup trop de fautes directes lors de la Finale.

Pour la petite finale encore un duel Bresil-Alemagne mais avec cette fois une domination des allemands Reckermann-Urbatzka sur les brésiliens du Montpellier Beach volley "Bruno" Oscar Schidt-"Billy" Maciel.

Swatch FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 2008 - Hyundai Open Barcelona - Une première réussie / A great first edition

Un site exceptionnel, un sable de qualité olympique, un public qui a répondu présent, une équipe d'organisation aux petits soins avec les joueurs, le public et les VIP et une météo qui a finalement été clémente, le Hyundai Open Barcelona a réussi son entrée dans le Swatch FIVB World tour 2008. 

Tous les joueurs ont adoré ce tournoi et ont émis le souhait que Barcelone reste inscrit dans le calendrier. Le promoteur Francesc Ferrer a bien noté cela et va se remettre immédiatement au travail avec Xavi Bosma et toute l'équipe pour que Barcelone soit eu rendez-vous de 2009.

Côté compétition, les matchs ont aussi tenu leur promesse avec des surprises, des confirmations et une bataille olympique entre les équipes qui tiennent à être à Beijing cet été.

Le fait le plus marquant est l'excellent comportement des équipes de l'est, notamment des jeunes polonais - Kadziola/Szalankiewicz - et lithuaniens - Samoilovs/Plavin - qui finissent respectivement 9ème et 5ème.

A noter aussi le bon tournoi des Ces Brothers qui finissent 7ème après un match disputé face aux brésiliens Marcio-Fabio qu'ils perdent 2-0 (21-17 22-20) avec un petit regret, s'être laissé piéger par le temps mort médical demandé par Fabio à un instant stratégique du match sur une blessure dont on se demande si elle n'était pas plutôt psychosomatique...

Finalement dans ce tournoi Hommes, Christoph Dieckmann-Julius brink confirment leurs bons débuts dans le circuit mondial en battant de nouveau (pour la 3ème fois) Emanuel-Ricardo en demi finale et en gagnant la Finale face aux russes Barsouk-Kolodinsky.

Dans le tournoi femmes, les brésiliennes, pourtant en nombre, n'ont pas réussi à décrocher l'or pour ce 1er tournoi dans la capitale catalane.

En effet ce sont les américaines Elaine Youngs et Nicole Branagh qui ont réussi à battre Larissa-Juliana en demi finale et Talita-Renata en Finale et à remporter leur 1er tournoi du Swatch FIVB World tour 2008.

A noter l'excellente 4ème place des grecs Vasso Karadassiou-Vicky Arvanity.

Finally in this Men tournament, Christoph Dieckmann-Julius brink confirm their good starts in the world circuit by again beating (for the 3rd time) Emanuel-Ricardo in half finale and gaining the Final against Russian Barsouk-Kolodinsky.

In the women tournament, the Brazilian ones, however of number, did not succeed in taking down gold however for this 1st tournament in the Catalan capital.

Indeed it is American Elaine Youngs and Nicole Branagh which succeeded in beating finally Larissa-Juliana in semi final and Talita-Renata in Final and win their 1st tournament of Swatch FIVB World tour 2008.

To note the great 4th place of the Greeks Vasso Karadassiou-Vicky Arvanity.

Swatch FIVB World beach Volleyball Tour 2008 - Prague - Un avant goût Olympique / Post Olympic taste

Jake Gibb-Sean Rosenthal ont délaissé le circuit AVP et l'étape de Charleston pour se concentrer sur le Swatch FIVB World Tour qui passait par Prague.

Cela était d'autant plus important que les américains veulent assurer leur qualification Olympique car d'autres équipes poussent derrière comme Matt Fuerbringer et Casey Jenings qui ont choisi aussi de se rendre à Prague.

Le choix de Jake et Sean a été judicieux puisque non seulement ils ont gagné la Finale, avec un chèque de 28000 $ au passage, mais en plus ils se sont payés le luxe de battre au passage, les 2 meilleures équipes européennes - Barsouk-Kolodinsky au 2ème tour et Dieckmann-Brink en Finale - et les Champions Olympiques sortants les brésiliens Ricardo-Emanuel en 1/2 finale.

Une demi finale qui a tenu toutes ses promesses puisqu'il aura fallu attendre le set décisif et un 18-16 pour Jake Gibb et Sean Rosenthal pour avoir le droit d'aller en finale.

Il est important de dire aussi que Ricardo-Emanuel avaient été battus au 4ème tour par l'autre finaliste les allemands Christoph Dieckmann et Julius brink qui ont fait un excellent tournoi, sortant tour à tour Heuscher-Heyer, Franco-Cunha, Ricardo-Emanuel et Numerdor-Schuil en demi finale.

Alerte pour les équipes brésiliennes qui ne doivent pas oublier que les équipes européennes ont progressé et que d'autres équipes américaines en dehors des Champions du Monde, Phil Dalhausser-Todd Rogers, pouvaient perturber le classement mondial.

 Jake Gibb-Sean Rosenthal forsook circuit AVP and the stop of Charleston to concentrate on Swatch FIVB World Tour which passed by Prague.

That was important as American wants to ensure their Olympic qualification bus of other teams push behind like Matt Fuerbringer and Casey Jenings which also choose to go to Prague.

The choice of Jake and Sean was judicious since not only they won the Final, with a money prize of 28000 $, but in more they treated to the luxury to beat, the 2 best European teams - Barsouk-Kolodinsky at the 2nd round and Dieckmann-Brink in the Final - and the outgoing Olympic Champions Brazilian Ricardo-Emanuel in 1/2 finale.

A semi finale which held all its promises since it will have been necessary to await the decisive set and one 18-16 for Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal to have the right to go in Final.

It is important to also say that Ricardo-Emanuel had been beaten at the 4th round by the other finalist Germans Christoph Dieckmann and Julius brink which made an excellent tournament, leaving in turn Heuscher-Heyer, Franco-Cunha, Ricardo-Emanuel and Numerdor-Schuil in semi finale.

Alarm for the Brazilian teams which should not forget that the European teams progressed and that other American teams apart from the Champions of the World, Phil Dalhausser-Todd Rogers, could disturb the world classification.
